- All daySelf-Defense TrainingIf you’re looking to build confidence, learn self-defense skills, and train in a supportive and inclusive environment, Self-Defense SGT is the perfect place to start. With guidance from Eryn and thoughtfully structured sessions, each class is designed to empower students of all experience levels. Whether you're learning how to avoid danger, escape a grab, or respond to an attack, you'll leave each session stronger, more aware, and better prepared. Don’t miss out: join us and take the first step in protecting yourself and others. Self-Defense Small Group Training is a place for you to learn more about different ways to defend yourself. This small group training will be offered in 3 different sessions, each of them covering 3 class topics: SAFE Hands, Wrist Escapes, and Grab Arts. - 9:00 AM4hFire Extinguisher Training - Campus Safety WeekEmail - riskmgmt@sfsu.edu Hands-on training for fire extinguisher use will give participants the confidence to react quickly in an emergency. SF State EHS Professional instructors provide participants with an overview of fire prevention and extinguisher types, common fire hazards, evacuation procedures, the P.A.S.S. method and more. We will be working with pads so come to do some light striking, kicking, and kneeing. Loose, comfortable active wear is encouraged. Pre-Registration is required. These chairs are strategically located in campus buildings to assist individuals with mobility impairments during emergency evacuations. Come learn how to utilize the chairs in order to assist others who may need them during an evacuation. All students, dependents, veterans, and all those apart of the veteran community are welcome. This is a potluck style event, bring any of your favorite foods to share we would greatly appreciate it. VETS@SFSU will providing free food in works with the veteran services, as well as VETS@SFSU fundraising through selling shirts and providing any information and help veteran and dependents need. - 2:30 PM1h 30mLorena Gutirrez fight to end femicide in MxicoCost - Free Email - carolinaprado@sfsu.edu The Department of Latina/Latino Studies would like to invite you the event "Madres que Luchan: Lorena Gutirrez fight to end femicide in Mxico" on Monday, October 13 at 2:30 p.m. in Library 121. Please share the event information with students and faculty. Lorena Gutirrez shares her story of losing her daughter Ftima, victim of a feminicide at age 12. In spite of struggling with corruption and many obstacles, Lorena continues to fight for justice in her case and to bring about an end to gender violence in Mexico. This talk will feature a sneak-preview of an upcoming documentary film following Lorena's story.
