- 11:00 AM1h 30mAI Literacy Essentials: Introduction to Generative AICost - Free Email - ai@sfsu.edu This course introduces generative AI to those with little or no prior experience engaging with this emerging technology. Participants obtain a foundational understanding of generative AI, its associated opportunities and implications, and basic strategies for composing and iterating prompts. Participants will be expected to engage in hands-on interaction with the Microsoft Copilot chatbot to begin generating practical outputs for personal and professional use cases. This course is required to receive a digital badge for the AI Literacy Education Program (https://ai.sfsu.edu/start-your-ai-journey).
- 12:30 PM1h 30mBringing People Home: Panel Discussion on CA Penal Code 1172.1 and Other Resentencing StatutesCost - Free, but please RSVP Email - adelatierra@sfsu.edu Californias recall and resentencing law has enabled the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and District Attorneys to refer people back to court to be resentenced and released. The law enabling this form of resentencing is now chaptered as Penal Code 1172.1. This event will bring together experts in the field to discuss resentencings background, outcomes, current needs and prospective futures.
