A cinephile, Riley directed and wrote the screenplay for his debut 2018 feature film “Sorry to Bother You,” which won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Feature Film. Evan Kidera (B.A., ’04; MBA, ’14) is the co-founder and CEO of Señor Sisig, a pioneering Filipino-fusion restaurant. While earning his MBA at SF State, Kidera and his friend Gil Payumo launched their first food truck in 2010. Patrick Makuakāne (B.A., ’89) is director of the San Francisco dance company and cultural organization Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu, which features a traditional dance company that also blends classical hula with stylized movements and contemporary music with a theatrical flair. Performances tackle powerful topics such as colonialism.
