Evan Kidera (B.A., ’04; MBA, ’14) is the co-founder and CEO of Señor Sisig, a pioneering Filipino-fusion restaurant. While earning his MBA at SF State, Kidera and his friend Gil Payumo launched their first food truck in 2010. Patrick Makuakāne (B.A., ’89) is director of the San Francisco dance company and cultural organization Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu, which features a traditional dance company that also blends classical hula with stylized movements and contemporary music with a theatrical flair. Performances tackle powerful topics such as colonialism. Genny Lim (B.A, ’77; M.A., ’88) is an award-winning playwright, poet, performer, educator and community leader. The San Francisco native is the city’s 2024 poet laureate and was a former SF JAZZ poet laureate.
